TN: 2015 Sine Qua Non Syrah Trouver l'Arene (USA, California, Central Coast)

2015 Sine Qua Non Syrah Trouver l’Arene - USA, California, Central Coast (11/8/2019)

My first bottle. 80.5% Syrah, 7% Petite Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, 2% Grenache and 3.5% Viognier. Sourced from estate vineyards (37% The Third Twin, 36% Eleven Confessions and 27% Cumulus). 34% whole cluster. Not decanted but opened 2 hours before drinking. Inky black red color. Saddle soap and alcohol on the nose. Full bodied. Notes of evergreen, currant, cinnamon, olive and tobacco. This was more open and approachable than I expected. 95+ points.

Been awesome since the day the delivery guy dropped it off. Stay away from the Grenache for 3 more years though.

1000% agree on the grenache. Popped one earlier this year and even after 3 days open it hadn’t budged. Needs a lot of time.

Did you aerate it? For how long? At what stage did it seem best?

Interesting that the 2015 grenache is closed, but the 2016 Ratsel is singing. Opened on two weeks ago and it was excellent.
