TNS: 2012 Raveneau Chablis MdT and 2014 Ceritas Chardonnay Trout Gulch

  • 2012 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (11/5/2019)
Popped and poured to accompany oysters and clams. Pale white gold hue. Nose of sea air, flint, grapefruit, and apple core. Initially almost creamy on the palate, with eventual emergence of tensile layers of lemon, lime, granny apple, and white pear overlying a bed of crushed white rock. Aristocratic depth joining with steely spine and mouth watering acidity leading to a long finish of limestone, grapefruit, and lemon peel. Wonderful. (93 pts.)
  • 2014 Ceritas Chardonnay Trout Gulch - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (11/5/2019)
Pale gold color. Nose of citrus, schist, apple core, fresh cut white flowers. Crystalline and incisive on the palate, yielding layers of taut grapefruit, lime, granny apple, and stone. Ample acidity and youthful structure leading to a long finish of flinty white fruit and grip. Delightful in its purity and youth. (92 pts.)

Mike

You’re welcome, Mike. I’m trying the whites a bit younger these days.

Cheers,
Doug

Appreciate it. I was eyeing a 2012 MdT just the other day.

David,

If you go for it, hope it shows well like this bottle. With oysters, oh Mama.

Cheers,
Doug
