Had the pleasure to sit next to and chat with Rodolphe Peters about all things champagne last evening at a dinner in NYC for the premier public showing of HERITAGE MV. The validation of Rodolphe’s career is this brainchild creation, Heritage MV where he initially sought from and received approval of this project by both his father and uncle granting their unanimity and permission and after received, the success at reuniting the familial relationship between those two elders because of this project. By blending a large portion of old stocks with vintages up to 2010 of GC chardonnay, yet maintaining ample stock to continue the tradition of the delicious NV he has succeeded admirably. If my info is accurate this blend is 1/3 2010, 1/3 2002-2008 and 1/3 the old bottles. The wine is vibrant and fresh yet perfectly balanced with all the lovely nuance of the beautiful old and mature vintages of Mesnil chardonnay. One release, this is it, never again.
Also got the preview and taste of the new 12 single vineyard Montjolys, and the 12 M E. Both fantastic too, as well as the 12 Chetillons.

Also great discussion between him and I about dosage, chaptalization in burgundy, and improved growing techniques from committed producers and growers in champagne but that’s another discussion…
