Last Minute Willamaette Trip

#1 Post by Justin b » October 9th, 2019, 8:33 am

My wife and I had a trip to Healdsburg area this weekend. Unfortunately, PG&E is shutting down power to northern Cali due to impending high winds. My problems are minimal compared to local residents and businesses. Nevertheless, we're cancelling our trip and are trying to make last minute plans for Willamette Valley. I don't know much about this area, and don't have near as much time to research as I'd normally like to do. Researching wineries is part of the fun for me.

Can you help by providing names of wineries you would recommend for Pinot Noir and great views? Suggestions for towns and restaurants would be great too. Thanks

Here are some suggestions from a post I made a few years ago. Hope everything works out for you!

Had a memorable trip to the Dundee Hills a couple years ago and loved tasting + views at Dusky Goose, Maison Roy, and Furioso. And for convenience, all are basically on 3 corners of the same intersection.

What kind of Pinot do you like?

Best view in a no-appt-required tasting room has to be Anne Amie. The wines are worth tasting, but not standouts IME.

Good wines and good company at Biggio-Hamina (also has regular tasting room hours -- or at least used to, don't see any listed on their website).

Restaurant-wise for McMinnville I'm a fan of Valley Commissary during the day and either Thistle or Nick's Italian Cafe for dinner :)
