TN: 2011 Weingut Knoll Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Vinothekfüllung

2011 Weingut Knoll Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Vinothekfüllung - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau (10/7/2019)

Purchased at auction. This is Knoll’s top bottling which is not made in every vintage. Sourced from the highest section of the Loibnerberg and Kellerberg vineyards. The ripest of Knoll’s wines made with botrytis affected grapes. 2011 was a warm vintage. Not decanted. Light gold color with a little alcohol on the nose showing the 14.5%. A rich and opulent wine with a full body. Notes of spiced pears, apricot and a long minerally finish. 95 points.

Great wine! I had it in April and loved it too.

It had tons of apricot and stone fruit notes and I agree it was quite ripe, but beautiful. Rated it 94.

Vinothekfüllung might be the coolest word I’ve seen this year.
