TN: 1996 Domaine De L'Arlot Clos des Forets St Georges

Cork soaked 7/8 but no evidence of leaking, color was completely bricked through.
Needed a couple of hours in the decanter (riedel narrow neck apple) for the mid palate to fill in.
secondary going firmly into tertiary with all tannins now resolved and the fruit showing as a berry melange with a touch of aged pinot sweetness which runs into a typically 96 tangy finish.
The meatiness of the appellation shows in this wine with an entry of beef broth and deep mulberry fruit.
Nice wine drinking at its peak (if not very slightly past it for this particular bottle).

Huge fan. Every time I open an older bottle I feel like Iā€™m getting exactly what I want from a very subtle Burgundian producer. Have not had wines since the change in 2011 (2012?). 2000-2002 drink like crazy right now. You do have to like spice and raspberries.
