TN: 2007 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile (France, Alsace)

2007 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile - France, Alsace (9/3/2019)
Stern to the point of severity - this is currently for those who prefer their Riesling with a side of sharpened steel. It opened up a bit after 24 hours, but never developed any palate richness - it remained as focused as a cat on a fishtank. Give it time. Lots of time.

I think that sums up almost every vintage of this wine I’ve tasted at this age or younger.

When I first tasted it a few years ago, the wine was much friendlier. It has clearly shut down for now.

Interesting note David, thank you. If I hadn’t seen the vintage I might have concluded this was the 08.

08 gorgeous. Love it more than 07 that I also found a bit stern. 08 my favorite since 01 375eme.

Thought you were an acid fiend?!

My last visit at the domain was in june 2018, for a huge verticale of FE and CSH :
Riesling Frédéric Emile 2010 : 17,5/20 (wait)

Riesling Frédéric Emile 1990 : 18,5/19
Note : Clos Ste-Hune 2007 : 18,5/20 (wait)

Last tastings, at home :
Trimbach Riesling Frédéric Emile 2008 : 17,5/20 – 26/3/2017
Trimbach Riesling Frédéric Emile 2008 : 17,5/20 – 26/3/2017
Trimbach Frédéric Emile cuvée du 375ème anniversaire 2001 : 17/20 – 24/6/2017
Riesling Trimbach Frédéric Emile VT 2001 : 17,5/20 – 8/2/2016
Trimbach Frédéric Emile 2007 : 17,5/20 – 25/2/2015

At the domain :
Frédéric Emile 2010 : 18/20 – 22/11/2013
Frédéric Emile 1990 : 18/20 – 22/11/2013
Frédéric Emile 1983 : 18,5/20 – 22/11/2013
Frédéric Emile 1971 : 18/20 – 22/11/2013

Fiend? No. I like wines that show balance. I am not into acid for the sake of acid.

Right now this CFE is a bit hard. Give it time.
