1983 Moillard Clos Vougeot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (8/31/2019)
Popped and poured then followed for 3 hours. Medium ruby color with scarlet rust hints. First sniffs revealed camphor and iodine joined by dark raspberry fruit and earth, later transforming to full wafts of perfumed violet florals. Settled, integrated layers of red raspberry, black cherry and plum fruit on the palate cut with iron bits and granite. Smoothed tannin and ample acidity, with texture of pure velvet by the end of the evening. Long finish of red berry, iron flecks, and quiet grip. Mature wine giving lots of pleasure tonight. (93 pts.)
