Riverain Reserve. 2016

Thoughts on this? The regular bottling scored well for 2016. $195 per?

I took a three pack. Shipping was high at $40.

Joe, I know how hard Steve has worked to get to a point where he could expand his portfolio to do this. I know he will appreciate your support here.

In for 6 !
They indicate their opinion that it is a higher quality than their 98 pt cab.

Almost pulled the trigger on 6 but settled for 4. Looks like it will be great and a gorgeous bottle.

In for 6 as well. Hoping for big things. If not, the bottle looks cool so that’ll be alright.

Thanks for the kind words gents. TRB and I sat down for about an hour and went through some candidates blind. We both picked the same one to make this wine. IMHO it is the best wine we have ever made (but I am clearly biased )

Thanks Nick. The packaging took a while to get right as it is a hand applied double label in front and finished with a very soft custom wax.

Hey, I know I’m a fan of Riverain, yes it’s a great looking bottle, I certainly do hope that at $200 initial pricing per bottle Steve and Thomas knock this one out of the park, but $40 for shipping 3 bottles was a shock unless this is coming in OWC. Can’t really complain though, cuz I did in fact take the 3 bottles. And I am certain I will enjoy them.

Joe,
Take another 3 & it may be the same shipping !

So I am subsidizing other people’s orders shipping costs? [help.gif]

Offer just came…

I’m sorry but I find the label procedure a slight bit condescending. This has nothing to do with the image. I’m sure it’s beautiful, but is this a mass market wine in need if capturing the attention of someone at total wine? Did it add to the cost? Is the bottle of normal size or is it a behemoth? Does it need special packaging to not damage the label? If the bottle is heavier and special packaging is needed, does that lead to higher shipping costs? I completely understand prices based on rising fruit and operating costs, but any additional costs relating to a label would be a sign of not caring about the customer.

I completely understand I don’t have to purchase. It might be amazing wine but I’ll never know. I truly hope it’s a success.

Just my $.02.

In for 6 so shipping costs not so bad. If its as good as marketed the $195 price is equivalent to Russell Bevan’s offerings from the same vineyard. Can’t wait for a comparative 2016 Tench tasting

Anyone in NYC want to split an order. I was allocated 6

Anyone tasted this before buying?

I tasted their entire lineup of 2016’s back in DEC, and they are all delicious.

The estate is a SOLID effort, but then Steve and Dean poured the Reserve… It is classic TRB in action.

had the Riverain Reserve last night - fantastic. GREAT acidity, which surprised me quite a bit - the fruit really pops, similar to what I love about mountain fruit, but obviously it’s not mountain fruit

Order received today, cold to the touch and well packaged.

I mean Tench is no mediocre site either. Hoping that they do Berserker Day again.

I pulled the trigger on one of my bottles this month as curious. Compared to their regular ‘16 I found more red fruit and acidity that gave the wine more excitement, lift and balance. However, like the label said reserve, I sensed something held back or in reserve. Such, I’ll drink my regular bottles while I keep these on Reserve. Thank u Steve n Thomas, great job!
Aloha KH

I’m at dinner with Steve tonight, I’ll ask him.
