TN: Two bottles of the same wine exactly one year apart

2004 Perrier-Jouët Champagne Belle Epoque - France, Champagne (8/10/2019)
Same exact note from precisely one year ago, except this time we had it alongside steamed lobster with lemon, which perfectly balanced out the dosage. Great match!

See below for the prior year’s note:

Yeah, I know, big producer, probably overpriced, but damn if it wasn’t a really good drink. Showed fresh apple fruit up front along with a distinct toasty edge, and then deeper, richer tones on the back end, resulting in a fuller bodied wine than I was expecting. The addition of mature tones made it an interesting wine, and even if I would have preferred a little less dosage, the balance was really good with our buttery, salty popcorn.

Nice notes! It’s been ages since I have had one of these. Probably should rectify that.

Glad to see someone drinking Perrier Jouet. The BdB is my favorite champagne and my largest champagne holding.

Happy 30th wedding anniversary! champagne.gif
