TN: 2012 Viano Vineyards Petite Sirah Reserve Selection

  • 2012 Viano Vineyards Petite Sirah Reserve Selection - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (7/27/2019)
See my previous note on the 2013. This wine is just starting to soften. Still needs another 5-15 years. Slow Ox’dfor 3 days uncorked. Last part of the bottle is best. Great QPR. I should have read my last note sooner and doubled decanted on Day1 and put in the Fridge for day or 2. Great QPR. Hard to beat for $16 especially considering its estate-grown old vine fruit and Family farmed and produced.

Here’s the original note on the 2013.

Inky dark purple opaque in the glass. Leads with black fruit, and strong tannins on the finish. Bracing acidity throughout. Better on day 3. It still needs time. This is a powerful wine. Not the most complex in the world but an absolute steal at $16. I think this wine represents the best of what Viano vineyards have to offer. recommended.
