'99 Savigny`

'99 Fougeray de Beauclair Savigny-les-Beaune ‘Les Golardes’

From 375ml - Lovely light garnet color, no hints of orange or brown. Aromas are open but not powerful, featuring red cherries, a touch of red raspberry and a good touch of sous-bois (hardwood forest after rain). The palate is light but solid and satisfying, with some breadth developing in the middle and end. This is not a complex wine, but the finish is surprisingly intricate and long. It is deft and balanced. Lack of intensity keeps it from being truly fine, but it was perfect with a spicy crab cake after a long day. Rated 89, drink up.
