TN: 2005 PY Colin-Morey Meursault Charmes

a bit alcoholic but a nice bottle. Lovely nose of flowers and citrus, good density and a soft texture, lemon drops, balanced and long with some minerals but no nuttiness. Speaks of the vintage with the alcohol and a bit of fatness.

Nice! Always a fun crack with an older PY. No noticeable alc in a 05 Genevrieres had last…but did note some edgy oak spice, as well as the vintage richness. But with every sip it polished itself up nicely like a river stone!

Nice one!

Just had the 2016 in a restaurant. Obviously crazy young but this was the sommelier’s rec when asked which of their PYCMs would deliver the most pleasure right now and boy it did. No alcohol nor fatness there but instead very bright, electric and chiselled.

His Charmes can be hit or miss for me but this one sounds great!

Some of the 05s seem to be drinking quite well and showing very elegant with no signs of the vintage heat or ripeness. My sample size is very limited so I’ll have to try some more!
