TN: 2016 Stolo Family Vineyards Chardonnay Estate

  • 2016 Stolo Family Vineyards Chardonnay Estate - USA, California, Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County (7/12/2019)
13% abv. Light straw, expressive aromas. A sweet, ripe pear note on entry, followed by citrus notes and stone. Excellent depth and length, great oily mouthfeel. Delicious, suave and compelling, with the potential for further improvement. (94 pts.)

At a time when I should be shunning new entrants to my cellar, I’ve gotten hooked on Stolo. Grapes grown in Cambria, several miles south of Big Sur about three miles from the blue Pacific. Everything I’ve tasted from this producer is special.

The label shown is for a '15 (Cellartracker photo), my wine was the '16.

Funny, I was searching out Stolo this week on winesearcher after Jim Cowan recently praised their Syrah. New name to me and now twice in one week. I need to find some!
Thanks, Mike. Sounds great.

Quick, someone get Stolo on Berserker Day.

The entire Stolo portfolio looks quite unique. Anyone try the 2017 Estate Syrah? Looks the the 16 Reserve Syrah is wine club only. I believe I saw the 2017 Delmore Stolo was good (and is now sold out?).

Thanks,
