Auction slowdown? (HDH today)

Are the auctions slowing down? I think it’s the first time I’m seeing the high-ends selling at low estimate or mid range. Some stuff even went below low estimate. Last year August/September was crazy, I remember people easily hitting the top estimate ranges…

Thoughts?

Acker also soft today. The German collection went high, as expected due to rarity and provenance. But everything else was notably soft. Not a firesale, but soft. Not sure what to make of it. Need more data points before calling a trend.

sales tax

definitely noticed that. Outside of a few key burgundy lots, most went low estimate to almost mid.

Glad to know I’m not seeing things

Good observation, should compare to other auctions and see what’s happening there. HDH started hitting people in CA with sales tax right?

started hitting everyone

Recent Zachys auctions were soft too.

Wasn’t soft on the stuff I was bidding on. Maybe there isn’t a huge market for 24 x 375ml bottles of Caymus.

There are also a LOT of auctions this week.

Summer. People on vacation. Ignore.

Could just be thursdays too!

Root day?

What I was thinking, too.

Alright, problem solved everybody!

It’s Thursday and root day! champagne.gif

Oh, come on, Fu went for the San Soufre, which went for like 1.5X high.

teehee

usually parallels the stock market which is booming.

good observation

2 bottles of 2016 Liger Belair Romanee went for 11K before premium/tax. that’s almost $7K per bottle all in.
