Yearly Budget

What’s most peoples yearly wine budget and how do you decide what it is?

I wouldn’t touch this topic with a “thirty nine and a half foot pole!”

Don’t have one unless it effects something else (e.g. retirement savings, vacations, etc)

One million dollars.

WHERE IS THE POLL? deadhorse

For me, it’s a set amount and I live to it. It helps that I am not on the amount of lists I used to be on, other than the Envoyer impact that is a balancing act. [training.gif]

Blew past it in Feb. I’m now into the budget for 2075.

Add the maximum credit limits on your 4 most used credit cards.
Divide by 2.
Multiply by the coefficient of corked bottles typically experienced.
Add 101 for good luck.
There you have it!

I determine my budget for the year on December 31 of that year by taking the sum total cost of that year’s purchases. It takes a lot of discipline, but I’ve never gone over budget.

Genius. [thumbs-up.gif]

You forgot the part about rounding up just in case numbers arent whole. Haha

You should work for the government! Make your grandchildren pay for your consumption.

Oh yeah. Always round UP!

Budget goes likes this.

Day 1, we drank a lot of champagne last night need more

January mailers hit, $$$$$

Berserker Day $$$$

Spring mailers $$$$

Summer time, need some rose’ $$

Fall mailers $$$$

Attend wine auction $$$$

Repeat following year

The budget is exactly what it needs to be to be a budget.

I buy until I see my wife’s lips disappear!

Rationalization 101: Sure I spent X…but my actual consumption is a tiny fraction of X…

I have a not to exceed, this year it is $100,000/day. I am well under that so it’s a fiscally responsible year.

For which year?

Agreed; per GAAP it’s not actually an expense until it’s been consumed so I’m well under budget
