2005 Marcassin three sisters Pinot among others

The 2005 Marcassin was stunningly good, layered and deep. Star of the show. The 1997 DRC Grands Echezeaux was a strong second, surprisingly good given it wasn’t a good year for DRC. It had some caramel notes, and was a little past prime, but still delicious. The 2009 Dom was, well, Dom. Love ‘em. The 2007 Marcassin Marcassin Vnyd chard was a little hot, and not quite to my taste. The two 1969 Barolo were ok, but 1969 is an off vintage for Barolo. They weren’t tired, but klunky might be a good descriptor. The vintage was chosen because my son-in-law was born in 1969, and this was his 50th birthday celebration.

Bill, nice. Great lineup covering the spectrum.

I’ve had marcassin a few times and people will say what they will but it’s delicious.
