Tondonia and Clos Roche Blanche

2003 Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Reserva
Soft and attractive fruit with a slight sour note running through it that integrates nicely with air. Beautiful match with a piece of salmon.

2005 Clos Roche Blanche Cot
Magnificent, fresh, life affirming and a delight to drink. A slight touch of band-aidy brett only addes to the complexity and does not detract from the earthiness.

On day 2 the Rioja has faded a bit but the CRB is showing pure raspberryish fruit

It’s definitely a skill of sorts to write a tasting note on a wine spanning a period of 2 days and I still don’t know whether you write of a white or red wine.

Cot (also known as malbec) is a red grape.

And what about Tondonia?

O boyo

This.

I bet Tondonia is a red variety [snort.gif]

I don’t know, IIRC Heredia has a wine made of white Tondonia grapes as well… [snort.gif]

Ah, good point. The Tondonia was red. My bad.

The '03 Tondonia (red) was a real winner on release. I had a significant preference for that over the '04, even though the '04 will probably be best when it’s more mature.

Thank you!

Haven’t had the 03. Have tasted the 04 multiple times and very solid stuff. I actually think the 05 Tondonia might end up the best of that triptych though. Thanks for the notes, Jay.
