TN: 2009 Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris Otin Fiorin (Gabutti)

2009 Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris Otin Fiorin (Gabutti) - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/11/2019)
Impulse opening…

Translucent ruby red, gorgeous initial aroma of flowers, cherries, new leather and licorice made for a classic Barolo nose. Light to medium weight, with firm tannins and generous fruit on the palate. It was certainly too soon to open this, but overall appears to be on a good path for further development.

I’ll wait five or more years before opening another bottle.

thanks for the note!

Thanks David. I only have 2 so def will wait

I bought 3, so that gives me one for a somewhat early look.

Too bad my annual allocation is now just 2. Now it will be a guessing game for both bottles.

I had the 09 Pie Franco recently and it was an absolute rockstar wine, punching way above its weight for the vintage…

I have a suspicion that Cappellano does the best (post 2008) in the ripe years
