Another stupid poll about wine drinking
Another stupid poll about wine drinking
So, if you just want wine to chill out and destress after a shitty day whats your preferred grape, this is not about wine tasting or food its simply about wine drinking.

I'll just break the seal right off the bat.and say BEER.
That aside, if it must be wine, probably Syrah or Sauvignon Blanc.

Beer. Aside from being the smart-assed answer, it's the serious answer. I'm not sure I'd ever want to drink wine while stressed. Having a beer can be just what the doctor ordered. Alternatively, perhaps a coffee.

If it’s just to have a drink, a gin and tonic.
Next up would be pinot noir.

Because as others have said, it’s really more beer or cocktail time, I’m going to go with bojo. Probably get a fruity light one put a chill on it and make it easy on the mind.

Let’s ask Bart Starr.
Anyway, the wine always comes after de stressing with a workout or some yard work or cooking. Don’t drink while stressed.

Time of year also plays big in a decision to drink wine...coming home from work on a 105 degree day I am not really inclined to drink a huge tannic red, but in winter time it might make sense.

It's too much to ask, I suppose, that a question on a wine board spell "Riesling" correctly even once of the two times the word appears.

Re: Another stupid poll about wine drinking
Usually beer or a negroni is my answer here, but then I think Pinot if I want to crack something and that something was wine, it's usually enjoyable. I don't really crave Bordeaux varieties, Syrah might be up there along with some white, maybe Sauv Blanc or Chardonnay.

Re: Another stupid poll about wine drinking
Cabernet and how dare you to suggest that wine has alcohol in it that alcohol has certain affects on the body and mind such as causing relaxation and feeling of well being. Didn't you know if you admit to feeling the effects of the alcohol when you drink wine you can't be a true oenophile and must have a drinking problem?

Re: Another stupid poll about wine drinking
I almost always go with a near pour of bourbon, amaro, or vermouth if I want a drink to de-stress. something with a little more bitter kick than wine.
but I tend to use exercise as my de-stress and then the drinking is more about the drink with dinner.

I voted for Chimp (Champagne), but could have considered Riesling or Semillon, but neither was offered as a choice
as others have noted.

Re: Another stupid poll about wine drinking
Shortly after we opened our store, we had a guy call and ask if we could fulfill Christmas orders for his company. He wanted mostly Oregon Pinot Noir, followed by California Pinot Noir, some Chardonnay and a few cabs. The size of the order convinced us to make it happen. 60 six packs, 20 two packs and 2 cases for the family dinner. Of course we are left with the extra bottles of Ken Wright, Beaux Freres, Penner Ash, etc. The wines were all from a warm year and fruit forward. We tried them at the end of the work day, fell in love with PN as a sipping wine and back filled the store accordingly. That was 13 years ago. Too bad he sold his business and retired five years later.

Don't drink much else besides wine and not often during the week, no matter how shitty the day was.
On Friday nights, we start out with a bottle of champagne to destress from the week.
If it was just me, it would be zinfandel.
