T/N - Carter Cellars - The O.G. - 2016

I am not one to post tasting notes but I had to share my experience.

A few months ago, I caved to the hype created by this forum and purchased a few bottles of 2016 Carter Cellars The O.G. from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. Let me start of saying the bottle lived up to the hype.

The wine was very concentrated (in a good way…not like Caymus) and complex. You could smell this wine for hours. It had a big nose and a little heat (14.9%) We decanted the bottle for 2+ hours before first sip and it evolved very nicely over the next 2+ hours during dinner.

Lots of dark, ripe and rich fruit (black and blue berries), coco, (lighter on the leather), and very sweet and smooth tannins. Just a stunning wine and it won the night at my table. 98+

I think this has potential to be a perfect cab in the next 3-4 years. It needs to sit in the cellar for a few years due to noticeable heat.

If anyone has extra bottles laying around, please feel free to message me.

Thanks for that note: a glimpse of unicorn wine for me!

Could not agree more. This wine is a tour de force. 5-7 years from now it will be legendary. In all honesty, it was very coiled up on release IMO, but all the right components are there to be a 100pt wine in time.

PM if interested in a few bottles
