2015 Mount Veeder Winery Cabernet Sauvignon- USA, California, Napa Valley (6/10/2019)
PnP, wow this was the best showing so far for this wine. Really surprising structure that supports a lot of flavor, black and blue fruits, floral notes, baking spice. Drinks well above it’s price, I would have guessed blind a $70-100 Cab.
Awesome note! Scooped a 3L of the 2013 for pretty cheap from Costco a couple years ago, so love hearing positive reviews on the winery. Thanks for posting.
I feel like they hit the nail on the head every once in awhile and produce something that drinks well above price point. Not every vintage but often enough that I make it a point to try every year.
These wines are underrated and have pretty serious longevity. I had the 1974 and 1976 recently. The ‘74 was superb, complex and with a fine finish. The ‘76 was more evolved, a pleasant but simpler wine.
I bought a few 2015 375’s but have not tried the 2016. Other than a single bottle purchased with a gift card, I have not bought a single bottle of wine since January. Would like to continue this behavior for awhile longer!
I have enjoyed these wines sporadically for decades. Did not know that Constellation owns it. Do not care that Constellation owns it. Did not know that it was thirty bucks at Costco, but now that I know it, will probably pick up a few bottles. Not buying a lot of ageworthy Napa Cabs but will pull the trigger for this wine at that price. Great terroir.
