TN: 2016 Rhys Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard

  • 2016 Rhys Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (6/2/2019)
This wine, from 500ml, is singing light now. Call it the black fruited foil to my generally favorite red fruited Bearwallow. This, especially in 2016 will give Bearwallow a run for its money for me. This has brilliant dark red cherry fruit. It is lively and thrilling with pert acid, crunchy, earthy soil, dusty clay covered stones, Vosne-ish baking spices, and a swallow that is lovely, and full of lively energy, that beckons for more sips. Only thing I can contribute that’s even remotely related to a 2016 Rhys TN is the 2016 Bearwallow is awesome…well, at least the one TRB made. So yeah, I’m pretty useless in this thread.

The wine was great, and I am on a hot streak right now. Last night it was the Clos Saron Home 2005. I think I waxed on about that wine more than I did this one…

I am trying to wait another 6-12 months before testing out my 500 ml bottles of this.
