This puts Spinal Tap to shame

What will the critics do now?

Ooooh that was good for a chortle!

To convert to Parker, divide by 4.

Far beyond going to 12.

EXCELLENT.

The answer is none. None more black.

Reminds me of the weather forecast I found online before I headed to Yosemite National Park a few years ago.

That’s a toasty 73 degrees kelvin!

This wine is part of a trilogy in Latour Minor.

It’s the saddest of all scores.

Very innovative! No one thought to simply add the critics scores together to get a bigger score before. So simple, so genius!

498 can be as sad as 497.
498 is the saddest score since 497.

497’s just no good any more.

The bigger the oakin’
The sweeter the scorin’.
That’s what I said.

Zachy’s must not be getting the Sherry-Lehman e-mails. I’m afraid 300 points just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

It’s as hilarious as it is meaningless. Every once in a while I pop over to the Wine Library website to see what new “critic” they’ve unearthed to give a wine 99 points. It’s been a few months so I checked today.

The first 11 I’ve never heard of in my life. 12 thru 31 I’ve heard of, but enough said. Luca Maroni? Rates the color of wine?

The last five may cause me to take a look at a wine, but wouldn’t necessarily sway a decision.

But this isn’t the whole universe of critics. So you find three or four dozen critics, add all their scores together and you get an utterly useless score. Maybe add in a few newspaper scores and state fair scores and baby, you get to a thousand points easily!

And where the hell is Vino Vixen anyway?

1 Rich Cook?
2 Catherine Fallis?
3 Campbell Mattinson?
4 Mike Bennie?
5 California State Fair! Why not all 50 state fairs?
6 Andreas Larsson?
7 Robert Whitley?
8 Erin Brooks?
9 Luca Gardini?
10 Gary Walsh?
11 Sam Kim?

Greg, I anxiously await the first 1000 point wine.

So Luca Gardini is both you’re never heard of AND might make you look closer?
I’ve also never heard of the first 11 (or Guía Peñín)

With that many critics and the Zachy’s methodology, it shouldn’t be hard to achieve that cumulative score.
