More GW from this awesome Anderson Valley vineyard (way to go Casey). Quite a stylistic difference from the super young, light and floral Phillips Hill from a couple months ago. Here are my thoughts on the Toulouse:
Pale Golden and clear. Nose: hefty dose of tropical fruits/guava sneaking through the wave of rubber. Very pungent nose. Palate: deep and layered starting with orange oil, then showing various apricots and peaches, moves to honey for a moment, then brings it all back with a kick of acid. Definitely some RS but more than enough acid to balance and a rich dense texture. Labeled as 8.5g/L acid and 13.5% abv.
Toulouse does Estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Vern also makes a Riesling, this GW, and a killer Petite Sirah that he sources from the Thompson Vineyard in The Redwood Valley. Always good to visit there, great staff in addition to Vern!
