Another Valley Foothills GW: Toulouse 2014

More GW from this awesome Anderson Valley vineyard (way to go Casey). Quite a stylistic difference from the super young, light and floral Phillips Hill from a couple months ago. Here are my thoughts on the Toulouse:

Pale Golden and clear. Nose: hefty dose of tropical fruits/guava sneaking through the wave of rubber. Very pungent nose. Palate: deep and layered starting with orange oil, then showing various apricots and peaches, moves to honey for a moment, then brings it all back with a kick of acid. Definitely some RS but more than enough acid to balance and a rich dense texture. Labeled as 8.5g/L acid and 13.5% abv.

Toulouse does Estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Vern also makes a Riesling, this GW, and a killer Petite Sirah that he sources from the Thompson Vineyard in The Redwood Valley. Always good to visit there, great staff in addition to Vern!

Thanks Dan. Starting in '18 the PG is from our place too.

Did they replant theirs to PN? Hadn’t heard of this development but I had less time to talk last summer than usual…

They decided to make a change of vineyard source, that’s all I know.
