I honestly don’t know why I bought this. I must have thought I was getting a “good deal” as the price was good at the time. Clearly and absolutely not my style of Pinot Noir let alone red Burgundy.
Dark blackish almost opaque red, nose had smokey scorched earth (fire pit) and I suppose some black fruits. Palate was huge and monolithic with tons of extract and big aggressive tannins, more of that scorched earth thing and black plummy fruit. Impressive in a weird way I suppose. Not enjoyable for me at all, no florality, lightness of touch no red fruits etc etc.
I would never recognise this as either burgundy or Pinot Noir blind. Made like a modern Nth Rhone Syrah and this black monster is from 2011! No idea what to do with this wine, bury it for 20 years and see what happens?
