Important vs. Unimportant tastings

What factors decide whether a wine tasting is “important” or “unimportant”? Age of the bottles? Expense of the bottles? Amount of bottles involved? Ego of the OP? Please let me know in case I want to post notes on a vertical or horizontal at some point. I’d hate to label my thread incorrectly.

I’d say the chief factor is the note-taker’s sense of self-importance.

If you are feeling full of yourself that day, then you will be self-important. If not, then treat it as humble pie.

I thinking Todd should add a feature so that we can highlight our threads in a special color when we are feeling self-important.

I don’t think you need to worry about it, yours are always unimportant.

And narcissists’ posts look like this. That’s the tell.

If it involves pontificating about drinking alcohol, none rise to ‘important.’

My approach:

I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade… And then find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.

What if you are so important, and everyone knows it, that your posts are highlighted just by the mere presence of the thread?

A gentleman with differing views on wine to mine goes to see a doctor. The doctor gives him tests, and tells him the bad news. He goes home and puts on his tuxedo, and admires himself in the mirror His wife asks what him what the hell is going on. “The doctor tells me I am going to be impotent, so I am going to dress impotent.”

As for tastings, I think we should all agree that they are either potent or unimpotent.

“Important” wines is one of the wine geek platitudes that I detest. Sorry. Just seems a bit pretentious and precious. So, to the OP, I can’t help.

The important threads are the ones about whether one can wear a suit without socks or a tie; watches; shaving; shoes; what size house we live in and Game of Thrones. I did not realize that there were any important tastings.

Important tastings are 1st world tastings.
I attended an unimportant tasting once - there was no one else in attendance as it was not important, so I left.
Unimportant tastings are dead at retail…
