TN: 1969 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Beringer/Los Hermanos Napa Valley

Another 69 wine to celebrate the big 5-0. Opened at dinner…cork in great shape, but shockingly short! Half the size of normal cork? Did it’s job well as the wine was in sound shape. Little tawny port like at first…sour plum skin, marsala, dusty old cellar…very soft fully resolved tannins, somewhat delicate, yet maintains a solid frame for the old dude. Dried and deepened up nicely with more air…more savory now…little menthol, sous bois, leather, decayed leaves, tad plum liqueur sweetness…actually held up pretty well for an hour or so. Not the most profound…but still a thrill to catch an old bottle like this in fine shape! (90 pts.)
