The annual Last Saturday in April Tasting
2012 Aubry Le Nombre d’Or Sablé Blanc des Blancs 40% Chardonnay,
30% Arbanne, 30% Petit Meslier. A great vibrant wine. Simply a pleasure
Vouette et Sorbee Cuvee Fidele Extra Brut R14 (from Magnum) Reddish color. Great vintage for Fidele
2008 Vouette et Sorbee ‘Extrait’ Extra Brut. A gem. Extremely sharp. A mix of the best Pinot and Chardonnay. Will improve to a very high level
2014 Cedric Bouchard Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules Together with Extrait the best Champagne. Always a pleasure. In 2014 extremely sharp
2011 Cedric Bouchard Roses de Jeanne Cote de Bechalin. A level below
2017 J J Prüm Gracher Himmelreich Kabinett. This is one of my favourite wines in any vintage. In 2017 it is a treasure of flavours. But in comparison to the Schartzhofberg it was a notch below
2017 Egon Müller Schartzhofberg Kabinett. This is benchmark Kabinett. Best there is
2010 JJ Prüm GH Auslese Goldkapsel. Golden color. (see pic) Extremely flavorful
2017 JJ Prüm GH Auslese Goldkapsel. Wow this is 10000 Volts. Color is greenish±clear. But texture is so rich. A must in the cellar
1998 Musar. As usual the richness of flavours gives you goose pimples. Love it
2008 Figeac. Many guessed Left Bank (!) A stern, but very pleasing Figeac already
2014 Giacosa Rabaja. Ouch this is really great. Currently a level above 2015 Asili
2015 Giacosa Asili. In the shadow of Rabaja
2007 Bartolo Mascarello. IMO the best Barolo producer along with Giacosa. The 2007 is surprisingly clean and crisp.
2008 Bartolo Mascarello. Lacks the extreme charming expression it had after release, but has gained richness and depth of layers. Will be soo great in 15 years
1957 Nervi Gattinara. This was surprising better than 1970. A thrill. Really great. And much cheaper than Conterno-Nervi
1970 Nervi Gattinara
1971 Ceretto Faded
1985 Fratelli Alessandria Monvigliero Slightly tainted by TCA. My bad not to have replaced the bottle
1971 Pereira d’Oliveira Sercial Colheita A really treat. Perfect with cheese
Bartolo Mascarello verticale (2013/2004 - magnums) - 5 april 2019
Bartolo Mascarello 2008 : (15/20)
It must be the Magnum format?
I would certainly rate the 2008 very close to 20
In magnum, the 2008 should appear younger …
Flawed ? (we had no spare, unfortunatly)
Great fun, thanks for the notes Claus. Have a couple of the 17 Scharzhofbergers, so enthused to see your positive comments. A 2000 Musar is slated for opening this coming weekend.
Slainte,
Mike
Thanks for the notes. Good to hear as I went pretty deep on 14 Rabaja.
The 2014 Rabaja Is maybe the best young Barbaresco I have had. Awesome wine
It will surely be preferred by many when comparing it to the 2015 (being released here in 2 weeks)
The 2017 Müller Scharzhofberg Kabinett is in its own league, IMO. Have to purchase more while I can
Wow Claus, quite a night!
Thought on ideal window for that Figeac?
Starting in 10 years
Finally got cleaned up…
Can only pics in landscape orientation be inserted correctly?
