TN: 2009 François Raveneau Chablis (France, Burgundy, Chablis)

Pale gold. Apple core and oyster shell on the nose, with scintillating grapefruit and lime scents also. Lovely and classic on the palate with layers of crisp, quenching flint and granny apple flavors knifing through, riding on a framework of steely acidity and spine. Not overly complex but it did not matter. Lovely with halibut. (91 pts.)

sounds lovely. Thanks.

Appreciate notes. I have a few bottles of this.

I’ve heard that Raveneau’s simple AC bottle is a bit of a rare find on US shores, much like Roumier Bourgogne.

not that hard to find. Expensive, though.

got a couple in my allo for 2016. Pricey though like Alan said

Agree with Alan, it’s usually available. To illustrate the pricing I paid $43 for the 2009, and 7 years later I paid $110 for the 2016. Unfortunately Raveneau demand is off the charts in the US, there’s not enough supply.

We drank a really nice bottle at Chez Panisse in early 2012 for $60 (probably 08). I never saw one at retail for that price afterwards.

Thx for info team. For some reason, I don’t see these too often at retail here in LA but lots of WS hits …

That IS rather pricey but not surprising when you consider what the PCs go for now Stateside!

Alan, Matthew, Charlie, Larry, Craig,

Yes it was pricey. I haven’t seen it on a shelf in Seattle before (rare instance of retailer closing his shop and trying to mobilize inventory). No hint of premox - not sure if this producer has had a lot of that. It was quite good after finishing a long on-call weekend.

Cheers,
Doug
