TN: 2017 Dom. La Suffrene, Bandol ROSE

TN: 2017 Dom. La Suffrene, Bandol rose. I did not post a note on my first bottle, as I figured I’d let them settle for a few months to give it its due. Well, this is not a replacement for any of my preferred Bandol roses, unfortunately. They are clearly going for a riper more modern style - and not to the benefit to my palate. Candied. Zero depth or interest for me. Nothing that Bandol is looked to in order to distinguish it from ripe southern rhone roses. A moron’s Bandol rose. Drinkable, but very meh. $20. 84 points, if just.

Edited to clarify I tasted their rose.

Yup… A buddy of mine claims that it’s just their terroir and there is nothing modern about the domaine’s winemaking ways but I suppose the proof is in the pudding. My experience with their red was very much similar to yours here.
