2005 Dönnhoff Brücke Spätlese

I have been keeping these in the cellar for long
And they should be lying down for many years more
Extremely sweet and fruity now
But a lot of hope for a beautiful transformation [cheers.gif]

Dönnhoff makes some spectacular wines!

Fun to drink now. Lots of future potential.

Spot on, David
Same goes for the 2004 (a better wine IMO)

Different style vintage.

Terry Theise was soooo high on the 2005s on release. I wonder if he still is.

At least to date, they’ve been too big for me to get really jazzed about, but one weingut that nailed it in 05 was Selbach Oster.

My recent experience with Donhoff has been that the 2005s are drinking well but the 2004s need more time. But it’s from a pretty small sample size.

+1

I know two very experienced people, other than me, who believe the 2004s are in a perfect place for drinking. I will let you guess who they are.

Can’t be Brad, he’s convinced they’re over the hill.

And I’m sure you wouldn’t take advice from midwesterners.

Right on both counts.

It is drinking well. but it needs more time (than the 2005)

In NJ?

Nope
