2018 bdx "fresh"

The word “fresh” is used a lot to describe 2018 bdx. What does fresh refer to? More fruit forward? Less complex? Less oak? Drinking fresh squeezed grape juice? Anyone know?

Fresh means acidity. It’s needed in every wine region, but it’s vital in concentrated wines, especially as alcohol creeps up. It’s not a new term. It’s been a common notation for the past 4-5 years at least.

My guess is decades longer than that.

So which vintage is the freshest - 2016 or 2018?

That term was also used extensively for 2016.

If true…is anyone hesitant sbout the supposed higher alcohol vintage of '18?.. I tend to prefer bordeaux in the 12-13% range
