How much do you drink

#1 Post by Alan Eden » April 1st, 2019, 8:26 pm

I know this has been done before but we have several newcomers and people trying to drink down cellars so thought its a harmless poll that should be run regularly, this should be your household so just you or including wife if they imbibe
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

I answered 2-3 bottles per week, but shared with my wife.

My consumption tends to go up during weeks when there are a lot of WB polls.

Normal consumption runs around 2-3 a week (shared w/ wife) which is typically on the weekends. However, if we are on vacation or it’s a holiday that number goes up significantly.

Our consumption is seasonal. Probably 4-5 during the winter, at least a bottle a day during the summer when we hang out with wine loving neighbors in the backyard. Seeing as it's winter most of the year here in MN I voted 4-5.

I am not sure what the pole accomplishes if anyone can vote on it irrespective of whether they are answering the question as an individual, a couple or a household, as that choice skews results.

3 (shared) is our general baseline, occasionally less, but sometimes more if we have dinner guests or some other event that calls for wine.

Many of you folk have a serious drinking problem. You simply don't drink enough. This place is called wineberserkers, not wineabstainers.

A decent meal requires a glass or two of wine and not just a couple of times a week.

Three to twelve, potentially shared with my wife and our friends and our blind wine group and our other wine group, and the neighbor, and my wife's trainer. Maybe a priest or two on Sunday. But never before 5 o'clock somewhere.

How much your spouse, children, houseguests drink along with you really isn’t the question.

On nights I’m not working, I usually have a generous glass of wine with dinner, 1/3 of a bottle.

We typically open a bottle of sparkling or lighter white when we get in from work.
My wife and I will consume that over post work conversation. I'll open something red while we prepare dinner and we'll finish that while we're eating.

Then depending on what time it is, I may open another bottle...or not.

My favorite as well! When we're on vacation, especially in countries where they tend to eat later in the evening than I like to, we almost always book our significant meals at lunch rather than dinner. A 3-4 hour lunch with a few bottles, maybe a cocktail or digestif, is grand. I have more energy, digest better, handle the alcohol better, and always sleep better that night.
