2017 PYCM Bourgogne Blanc

I saw a bottle of this at a new wine store in Portland for $38 and thought that was about the right price for a producer like this. I have to say I was really happy with this, but think I like the Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Blanc better for $8 less/bottle. As for the wine, it’s lean, focused, and leans more in the lemon/green apple camp with hints of crushed sea shell. The palate leads with green apple, lime, and a bit of chalk. Excellent!!

Same vintage for the Bachelet-Monnot?

Nope, it was the 2016…BM however, I think it’s more about house style than quality of wine for me.

Had the 2017 PYCM BB yesterday it was fine!! Much better was the 2017 Caroline Morey Santenay Les Cornières Blanc very stylish with wet stone, focused citrus and a crunchy mineral finish.

That’s nearly double the release price. BM BB at $30 is more tolerable, but I find it hard to spend $30 on any BB to be honest.

Caroline’s Santenay Cornieres is always the insider buy!
