Here are my top 10 grapes I drink from CT over the past 10yrs or so since recording.
Chardonnay 838 btls 28% Always has been my favorite. Especially from Chablis.
Pinot Noir 653 22% Mostly Burgundy / Especially Gevrey Chambertin
Champ blend 456 15% I’m a fan of sub $40 French, Taittinger Comte & Roederer CA
Sangiovese 216 Next to PN the most food friendly red for me.
Red Rhone Blend 165 This really dropped off in the last 5 or so.
Gamay 137
Nebbiolo 136 I’d drink more for sure but a little difficult to find the perfect pairing with what we eat.
Cabernet 136
Riesling 135
BDX Blend 110 Especially 15yr + BDX is on the rise with me.
Rose’ blend - 77 Consumption way up in last 2 years. Way too versatile & inexpensive.
Chardonnay
Riesling
Rhônes, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedres
Pinot
Zins
Bordeaux- Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon
Port.
Sparkling crosses Chardonnay, Pinot and Zins and is now about 30-40% of my bottles.
Currently 95% from California.
Wouldn’t even know where to begin…how do you classify the many blended wines, like Spanish whites, southern French reds and whites, etc.? For instance, how would you classify a Casa Aurora red, that has about 5 or 6 different grapes in it, or likewise a Chateau Simone?
And do you track it through time, because this can change through the years or even seasonally? Hmmm…
From the last 5 years or so, >1000 bottles, only things pulled from my cellar. In terms of what remains in my cellar, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Nebbiolo have been increasing steadily. Chardonnay is an odd ball because I tend to buy it and drink it younger than the other grapes, i.e. I store it much more briefly.
