TN: A Godello/Falanghina Pair...(short/boring)

Tried these two last night w/ DinDin:

Neno Godello SobreLias Dd’O: Valdeorras (13%; www.VinoSomoza.com; JosePastorSlctns) VinaSomoza/Valdeorras/Espana 2015: Med.dark gold color; pleasant floral/carnations/allpey/celery slight cilantro/spicy some stony/chalky nose; quite tart/tangy fairly rich/lush mostly chalky/stony/perfumed talc some tangy/metallic light floral/carnations/celery/celery seed slight earthy flavor; med. tart/tangy/stony/chalky/bit metallic very light floral/carnations/celery finish; a rather attractive nose that doesn’t deliver the same on the palate; a pleasant enough stony/chalky white but just that. $23.00 (AV)

Mastroberardino Dd’OC: Falanghina del Sannio (12.5%; WinebowImports) Atripalda 2016: Pale yellow color; quite fragrant floral/pear/pear blossom/almost CB-like sme spicy/cardamon bit new mown grass/alpine meadow quite lovely nose; bit soft slight tangy/metallic/tinny light floral/pear/pear blossom bit CB-like slight stony near vapid flavor; med.short soft slight tangy/metallic very light floral/pear/CB-like slight stony/chalky near vapid finish; a very attractive nose but doesn’t deliver a whole lot on the palate & a bit vapid. $28.00 (SFW&S)

A wee BP:

  1. Mastroberardino: This wine was not nearly up to the level of their Fiano I had last week. Really liked this nose, but it just didn’t have a whole lot going on on the palate.
