Tasted 3/6/19 @ Charlie Bird. Brought from personal storage and purchased upon release. This is a dense wine that is extremely aromatically complex. A mix of red and blue fruit. The wine was initially somewhat closed but opened up throughout the night. The wine is painfully intense and certainly leans towards more of a Morey Saint Denis profile even though the parcel is located in Chambolle. This is a masculine wine with a purple hue. There are some spiced fruit notes. Even though Burghound’s note from 2012 indicated it wouldn’t be a “vinous crime” to consume the wine, this has a lot left in the tank. Vogue wines don’t get as much pub on the boards but in my experience age for a long, long time. I still prefer the Chambolle Musigny 1er to the Bonnes Mares for value, but this wine is excellent and a true example of what a complex wine can be made from a grand cru vineyard. IMO the optimal drinking window on this one would be another 5 to 15 years.
