2006 Tablas Creek Mourvedre - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (2/25/2019)
– decanted immediately before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hours –

NOSE: expressive; clearly has an “aged” aromatic profile; metallic – tangy; meaty – raw, bloody beef; red-fruited (strawberry Twizzlers); a bit fumey; very tertiary – high-toned in a way that reminds me of some old Riojas.

BODY: medium-grained particulate matter throughout; medium-light to medium bodied; dark brick red color of medium-deep depth.

TASTE: 14.5% alc. is very noticeable, and is the primary reason my score isn’t a couple points higher; very aged; no tannins; medium acidity; aged red fruits; hint of cocoa powder; red fruit leather; not funky; no brett; seems to be a bit past peak; Drink Now.
