TN: 2016 Giovanni Almondo Roero Arneis Bricco delle Ciliegie

2016 Giovanni Almondo Roero Arneis Bricco delle Ciliegie - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Roero (2/25/2019)
I’ve drunk through a half case of this wine the past year, time to write a note on it: light floral fruit and mineral nose, this is such a tasty wine, punching way above it’s price point, with good medium light depth, excellent acidity, very nice minerality with just a hint of orange rind pith for interest. There are so many interesting, affordable white wines, particularly from Italy, and this is one of them. (91 pts.)

Drinking the 2019 right now and your notes are pretty much spot on. A delightful value. Great balance of minerality and ripe white-peachy fruit, with a floral nose and a great finish. Crisp but complex.

Gotta follow up to say I’m halfway into this bottle and it would be a perfect “house white” - can drink this all day, easy drinking but plenty of intrigue at a great price (I got it on WineAccess with a few stacked deals that made it less than $15 all in).

Yes! I’ve had a lot of this Arneis and it is really good and very consistent vintage to vintage. I’ve also paid up for the Vietti and Giacosa (last time I looked $22 vs $19 for the Almondo) and those two are a bit more interesting. But I’d drink any of them with pleasure.
