TN: 2014 Skewis Pinot Noir Ridley Vineyard

Here is a producer of high quality Pinot Noir that just doesn’t get much publicity. The 2014 vintage of Skewis Pinot was their last as Hank and Maggie Skewis decided to retire.

With dinner last night, pop and pour the wine delivered aroma of cherries, strawberry and spice. On the palate a nicely restrained mix of cherry, raspberry, sandalwood and a touch of clove. Medium body, moderate acidity and a touch of tannin made this wine a nice dinner partner. Hank’s winemaking style leaned toward restraint and balance rather than fruit or oak bombs. 14.0 ABV
Sad to see Hank and Maggie no longer making wine but happy for them enjoying retirement. For those who know them, one of the nicest most generous couples you will ever meet.
