Gobs of Elegance

2008 Joseph Drouhin Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Petits Monts
Remarkably pungent nose of black cherry, blood, earth and intense smoky spices upon opening which then calmed down with air, settling into the Drouhin mould of elegance and showing more floral elements. On the palate mid-weight but with intense, full, sweet and tangy fruit and the same spice and pepper components from the whole cluster component. Purity, an exquisite line of acid, and fine tannins on the light-footed but lengthy finish echoing that dusty/stony character I find in D’Angerville Ducs and Taillepieds. Deliciously drinkable now but will easily hold on the acid and that lovely balance.
And so, not really a wine that is boasting, but rather just say’n.

Always one of my favorites! Drouhin’s Petits Monts is a sure thing every year.

Nice note.

Gobs of Elegance, oxymoron for the day!

Jeremy, is your avatar pic an emergency medical bracelet with instructions to administer Musigny if you’re found unconscious? Brilliant!

So funny, when I saw it, I immediately thought it was part of a Galloni note. Johnny was pinging his Bingo card.

Charlie, thanks and agree. Looking to open a 2002 in the near future.

David, the avatar is a Road ID bracelet for my cycling and triathlon. As the chances of a first responder knowing what Musigny is may be low, my wife thinks the last laugh might be on me as they withhold treatment whilst searching for information on this new drug.
