New Mexico wine shipping law

Just received this email:

Dear Jeremy:

You are receiving this email as a previous customer of Flickinger Wines. We shipped wine on your behalf to New Mexico. Please read so we can continue to do so!

The New Mexico legislature is trying to pass a bill that would ban all shipments of wine to New Mexico consumers from out-of-state retailers. It is an attempt by local wholesalers to buy protection from competition and stop you from receiving any wines the wholesalers don’t themselves distribute.

The bill, SB 127, is currently in the Senate Judiciary Committee awaiting a hearing. IT IS CRITICAL THAT MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE HEAR FROM YOU AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE OPPOSED TO THE RESTRICTIONS IN THE BILL.

Please click on the link below and take 30 seconds to send emails to members of the Senate Judiciary committee where the bill will be heard.

Nice to see our elected officials working hard to help special interests while screwing consumers and constituents. Sadly, out of state wine consumers might be the smallest political minority in the country.

It will be interesting to see if the outcome of the case currently being reviewed by the Supreme Court has any impact on this.
