Getting ready to view the L.A. Rams play against the New England Patriots. I am pairing my 2016 Symphony with the Rams and pairing my 2015 Petite Sirah with the Patriots… CHEERS!!!
Why not Kalin Cellars, made in Goff’s home town of Novato? For Tom Brady’s team, why not Clos de la Tech…made in the hills above San Mateo where Tom grew up…Rhys might be a stretch but the winery used to be in San Carlos just down the road from Serra High School, Tom’s alma mater.
If you went by wine made in Los Angeles there s San Antonio Winery…For the Patriots…beer??
I sipped a 1992 Dunn Napa and didn’t watch the game. Sadly the restaurant I ended up going to had it on every TV in the room so I had no choice but to watch the last 5 minutes. Seems like I missed the interesting parts of the game.
The wine is lovely, great nose of dark cherry, cassis, a little menthol. Palate is soft and silky but still has a bit of tannin and lots of soft red fruit. Incredible long finish. Tart in a good way.
I went to Serra for my freshman year only, 1965-1966, and they were the league doormats in football. Bellarmine ( I think Dan Pastorini was their QB) came to Serra for our homecoming - final score Bells 66, Pads 0. But Jesse Freitas was in my same freshman class and Lynn Swann enrolled the following year. And the Pads started to roll.
