2013 Roagna Langhe Rosso - BestBuy Piedmont

A discovery from Piedmont…

2013 Roagna Langhe Rosso

Here we have a real bargain from Piedmont for 28€. According to a german wine merchant a declassified Barolo. Whatever this Langhe Rosso offers a lot of Piedmont bang for the buck. Classic aromatics of licorice, tar, rose petal and a fine complexity.

P.S. just found a dealer

envoyer offered this a couple weeks ago for $34 each

Yes, good stuff and drinkable even now. Not so much ‘declassified’ as younger vine.

I adore this wine. Over-performs its price point year after year. The 2010 was the first one that I had and I have been a Roagna enthusiast since.

And even “young vine” is a relative term; most of the vines that make their way into this wine are ~25 years old at this point and produce complex fruit. Most producers would smack a Barolo label on this bottle and double the price.

Yep, but thank goodness Luca does not. [cheers.gif]

Crush and everyone else is long sold out of this fantastic wine.
I bought the Crush offer and reloaded once I tasted a bottle.

Good to know, Suzanne.

I should’ve probably bought more from envoyer then.

I think they heard you. They just reopenned the offer.

Yep, saw that!

'12 is also a beautiful wine. Drank a bottle on Friday with a 150-day dry-aged rib at APL. Punches way above its price tag.

I had a bottle of the Roagna recently and although I liked it, to my palate the Albe 2013 is a step up and delivered more drinking pleasure at a similar price…
