TN: Rivers-Marie 2007 Occidental Ridge

Was at a local store here in Boston and saw this so I grabbed it

On the nose, a strong nose of coffee. On the palate it tasted like coffee mixed with a mouthful of gushers. Just excellent

My brother is a big Kosta fan but his word choice wasnt professional enough to share.

What, no orange? Love Rivers-Marie. There is a distinct house style, but vineyard differences aren’t hidden.

FWIW, I usually associate coffee flavors in Pinot with the wine being a little over the hill.

This wine is 10+ years old, from a vintage like 2007 that produced richer styled wines. I drank my last 2007 RM OX 6 years ago and thought it was ready then. I also had a 2007 Summa OV last year and thought it was on the richer side, too–plush and exuberant. For me, I have a single bottle of 2007 Copain Kiser EB that I have left, and a few 2007 Rhys Alpine, with the Rhys having more room to age, while the Copain is in the peak spot. IMO, 2007 vintage is ready to be consumed.
