2014 Cruse Wine Company Chardonnay Rorick - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, Calaveras County (2/1/2019)
I was surprised to find this one in the cellar…forgot I even had it. P&P with kung pao chicken and fried rice.
This one over-delivers for sure. Needs a bit of air and cool room temp. Slightly roasty, oxidative, kumquat on the nose. The flavor screams lime marmalade to me, complete with that little bitter catch on the back palate. Minerally yet rounded, this could likely go a few more years. Good stuff.
