  • 2012 Barnett Vineyards Merlot Spring Mountain District - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (1/30/2019)
Day 1: Sold this out at WineStreet with my review. At least I got six bottles before someone bought the other 18. Really nice fruit featuring blueberries, Bing Cherries and plum. Super velvet texture and beautiful finish. While not quite 05 level darn close. Nice vanilla/oak profile on the medium plus finish. Really drinking well right now on a pop and pour. 92 Plus.
Day 2: Good but not as solid as day 1. Sweeter profile. Dust, spice, menthol and plum. Medium plus finish. 90 points
Day 3: Better than day 2 and much more balanced. Dust, cherry, plum, blueberries, menthol, tobacco and earth. Sweetness has dissipated to become a much better wine. Medium plus finish and delicious. 92 points
Recommendation: If you like the fruit forward approach drink now however if you would like to experience more tertiary flavors in your Merlots age this 3 to 5 years. (92 pts.)
