TNs: Polar Vortex bubbles

  • 2008 Gaston Chiquet Champagne Millésime Or - France, Champagne (1/30/2019)
Nose: The nose is extremely well balanced and elegant, filled with red apples, biscuits, peaches, pears, baking spices, cinnamon, and vanilla beans. There is excellent depth and style to the nose with the tones all showing a good amount of freshness.

Taste: Medium bodied with high acidity. The acidity is bright and crisp while the feel is well balanced with red apples, peaches, vanilla beans, biscuits, and some mineral tones.

Overall: This is a lovely and refined champagne. It shows a lot of freshness and balance right now, but there is plenty here to see it age for another 8+ years with ease. (92 pts.)

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity is refreshing and well integrated with the feel showing poise and depth with red apples, almonds, some wax tones, quince, and creamed pears.

Overall: This feels like it is as good as it will get. It’s right in that spot of showing maturity along with some freshness to the tones. This is extremely enjoyable right now and it should be able to stay at this level for a while. (91 pts.)

Taste: The feel medium bodied with high acidity. The feel is well balanced and fresh with peaches, apples, pears, mineral tones, and some bits of mint.

Overall: This is drinking beautifully at this youthful stage. It is fresh and lively with excellent depth and a lot of freshness to it. While I can see this aging, it’s just so damned good now. (92 pts.)
