2012 St. Hubert Muscadet.

2012 Chereau-Gunther Muscadet de Sevre-et-Maine Comte de St. Hubert Chateau du Coing de St.Fiacre

Purchased 3 weeks ago, $26 Cdn. Good natural cork. Medium lemon in color, no green! Took a while to open up but then lemon, lotsa minerals, peach.
Quite dry on initial entry, good length here, medium bodied. Dry, lemony with mineral tones as expected.
Zippy for sure with excellent acidity. Read somewhere one punter had just opened his 2004…big wow from him!

There is a lot of old vintages of this cuvee available. At least back to the 90’s. I have had several back to 89 (it used to be labelled Saint-Hilaire, but they changed the name I think from 1999-vintage, and also on later releases of earlier vintages, same content though). It comes from a plot of 100 years old vines and spends quite some time sur lie, which is detectable. In Norway the 1999 is still for sale, at US$23.
